Boy it has been awhile since I have posted. I am trying to get back into the writing aspect of my life some. I have something I want you all involved in. This is just a hypothetical thing, for now anyway. I have an idea for something I want to do not sure yet how it will pan out, if it even does but I would love your ideas.

If you could set down with a group of musicians and ask them questions about one certain subject what would that subject be? I already got the chance to do this on the subject of the Internet. But what other subjects do you think would be of interest to you the readers and also the musicians themselves. I don’t mean just questions you would ask in an interview I am talking about a subject itself that after the subject is decided then the questions would be formed. Like people want to know about a movie an actor is in and they ask questions about the movie or they want to know how someone gets a record contract and they build their questions around that subject.

So let’s see what we can come up with and if my idea works its way into the light of the print world, you may see your idea. Or if nothing else we will know what people are interested in and that itself could be a great piece to write about.

How the Internet Changed Music

The internet is a huge place. There are no limits on where you can visit or what you can discover with the internet as your guide. The internet has changed music and continues to change it more every day. Before the internet and sites such as Face Book, MySpace, Live Journal and Yahoo Groups to name just a few getting your music out to those who would enjoy and appreciate it consisted of relying on a record contract or doing live gigs and getting a following that way. With the internet you can post your music online and get it out to many more people. Even if you do not have a record deal you can still get a large fan base that love and appreciate what you do. The internet has changed music so much.

The artist can interact more with their supporters though blogging, emails, journal entries and so many more ways. You build a more intimate relationship with you fans with the help of the internet than ever before. The fans feel more connected to the artist and are very supportive of everything they do. It almost builds a friendship of sorts between the artist and the fans. An artist who spends their time building the fan base and devoting some of their free time becoming personally involved on some level with the fans reaps the benefits for the rest of their career.

Many artists use the internet for this very purpose. For examples I will name a few that I follow.

Taylor Hicks is the first artist that I started keeping track of on the internet. There was a site Gray Charles that posted almost daily about Taylor. Taylor would check in now and then to leave audio blogs for his fans about things going on in his career. Fans loved every audio blog that Taylor left and talked together about the goings on in Taylor’s career. Taylor still leaves blogs now and then at other sites such as his MySpace about what is going in his career and so forth. His fan base has created many fan montages of Taylor and there are many fan run websites that keep up with all things Taylor Hicks. The fans have become friends with one another and meet when concerts are going on to go together, sometimes having pre concert parties or going to dinner together and the talk is Taylor Hicks.

New Music Forum to Promote Taylor

I found a great new site. Well forum it’s a music forums. There are a lot of different categories there for music and instruments. I did not see one for harmonicas but still we can use this great forum to help promote Taylor. We pick a category of music and use it to discuss Taylor Hicks music. The Soul Patrol likes to find new ways to promote Taylor and this forum would be perfect. What better way to introduce people who may not have heard Taylor’s music to learn more about him and discover for themselves why we love Taylor’s Modern WHOMP music so much. I am constantly looking for new ways to promote Taylor to those outside the Soul Patrol and this music forum would be a great avenue to do just that. I am going t head to music forum and start a thread about Taylor I hope everyone who reads this post will join me. I am going to try and find other avenues to promote Taylor. I’m going to find some book clubs also to promote his book Heart Full of Soul. If you find some sites outside f the Soul Patrols radar to promote Taylor’s music or book please let me know. We can spread the world of good music one site at a time.
