The Land Report.com Taylor Hicks Article
The Land Report.com has a great article about Taylor and the property he bought at the Oaks. They report that though Taylor has this beautiful piece of land having time to enjoy it is another thing altogether. This is great news though because it means Taylor is getting lots of work. Which we all know currently is has Teen Angel in Broadway’s production of Grease.
Here is an excerpt from the article. “On the shores of Alabama’s largest lake, American Idol winner Taylor Hicks has found the perfect piece of property. Now all he needs is the time to enjoy it.
Taylor Hicks has got a problem. It’s got nothing to do with the task at hand—his New York stage debut as “Teen Angel” in the current revival of Grease on Broadway at the Brooks
Atkinson Theatre—and everything to do with his jam-packed schedule.”
Jam-packed schedule I like the sound of that. I am very anxious for Taylors new CD to be ready for release. We need some more great music.

See Taylor Hicks Hand Jive in Grease
Derek Keeling and Ashley Spencer joined the Grease cast on Broadway in the lead roles of Danny and Sandy. Broadway World.com has a nice video interviewing Derek. But for all Taylor Hicks fans the best part is the video also shows Taylor with the cast in the curtain call. You get to see and hear Taylor Sing the beginning of Grease Is the Word and do the hand jive.
One side note about the Grease show is the wardrobe the cast wears. I have always been a big fan of the poodle skirts and leather jackets. The swimwear of that time was not a style I liked but the guys sure good in leather jackets and jeans. Taylor looks very handsome in the suit he wears for his Grease stint.

Olympics and Taylor Hicks
Today while traveling through the World Wide Web searching for Taylor Hicks news I stumbled across a great find. Tim Morehouse who was on the PBS special a Capital Fourth and is in the Summer Olympics in fencing. Posted about meeting Taylor and how nice he was. After this post of course Tim found out how much the SP appreciates those who have something nice to say about Taylor. He left this post.
The Olympic Twilight Zone: Taylor Hicks and the Soul Patrol!
My life right now is definitely fun, but also surreal, interesting and sometimes bizarre! Things happen leading up to the games that are totally unique. After my July 4 appearance on PBS I published a blog entry on my site as well as my USA Today blog and in it I had a line about meeting one of the American Idols, Taylor Hicks. I wrote that he was a nice guy and some Taylor Hicks fans found it and got really excited and it ended up on several fan forums. Within a day, the hits to my website and blog quadrupled and I have gotten tons of emails wishing me luck from his Soul Patrol! He must have the most loyal fans in the world, and I'm honored that I'll have the Soul Patrol pulling for me in Beijing! Perhaps a new name: Soul and Sword Patrol¨ anyone?
Thank you to all of them for outpouring of support! I hope I can do you all proud! No other Olympian can boast a fan base as unique as mine, from Teach For America to Taylor Hicks fans! Wow! Check out his blog http://timmorehouse.wordpress.com/2008/07/09/pan-american-championships-and-more/

Catching Up
I have been out of the loop this last week in regards to news about Taylor Hicks. I know some others out they might know everything that has been happening so the next few posts may be old news to those who have been keeping track this week but I am sure many will be reading this stuff for the first time. http://www.vh1.com/news/articles/1590637/20080709/hicks__taylor.jhtml
Taylor was recently interviewed by MTV News. The best part for me from the article is
"I don't have a name for the album yet, but I do know that it's some of the best music that I've ever written, and from an artistic standpoint, this album, being in my control, has allowed me to really breathe as a songwriter," he said. "As an artist, you kind of understand the times and what your surroundings are and write from them. So there are some political undertones on the album. It's a serious time for us."
Hicks said he's not worried about the future, because he knows he has what it takes to sustain a career in music. "It would be scary if I didn't really believe that I was supposed to do this," he said. "For me, as a kid, I knew I was supposed to entertain and perform for folks. When you have that self-belief and inner-determination, you understand there are peaks and valleys in this business, and you just keep working at it. You show up to work, whether it's 25 people at a Steak & Ale, or Wembley Stadium and there's 500,000 people. If you keep working, and you're good to people, you'll be blessed."
I cannot wait for the next album I will be getting it as soon as it comes available.

Taylor Hicks A Capital Fourth
Friday night the 4th of July I knew Taylor Hicks was to e on PBS on the Capital Fourth. We were out celebrating the 4th and I completley forgot iot was on. After we returned home around 1 am I turned the tv on and Hewy Lewis was singing. I was very happy to see the show was and hoped I had not missed Taylor. Hewy Lewis rocked the show and wailed on the harp. I really enjoyed seeing and Hewy Lewis again but I was waitinf for Taylor.
My husband earlier had been complaining about how he didn’t like Taylor and he wasn’t any good. ( He only doesn’t like Taylor when he is drinking. So anyway a few minutes later Taylor Hicks comes on the stage. He started with Soul Thing it was an amazing version and I loved it I was having a great time and then He sings Bruce’s Dancing in the Dark and he was really rocking it. I looked over at my husband and he was smiling and really enjoying the show. He admitted Taylor did an awesome job and it was a great thing for his career and said a lot for his talent to be chosen to be on the show and in between Hewy Lewis and Jerry Lewis. You tube has all the videos of the night. I have listened to them over and over so glad to have new Bluetooth stereo headsets. Now I am just trying to figure how to save this great video to DVD.

Bucky Covington Concert July 5th 2008
I haven’t been able to see Taylor Hicks in Grease. But Saturday night I attended a Bucky Covington concert. It was my 3rd concert so far. The first of this year, it was also my first opportunity for a meet and greet with Bucky. I was notified early last week that I got a meet greet.
My husband and son and my 13 year old daughter went with me to the concert. My daughter and I had ordered and created some personalized gifts to give to Bucky. I have always loved to give these type of gifts to people something that is just for them. The concert was to start at 9 pm. This was an outdoor concert and you were to bring your own chairs. It was right in the center of Hillsboro on the street. We had plans to meet up with a friend from I met at Bucky’s fan site. This would be our first time meeting in person and we going to up calm each others nerves before the meet and greet. Something came up with her son and she was not able to attend though. We will meet though at another show sometime I am sure.
So anyway we get to where Bucky is going to perform and we set our chairs up. Even though we were about 5 hours early we still ended up seating back pretty far from the stage but it was a good spot just not as great I had wanted. So we went around exploring the festival and the sights and sounds of the festival.
A little while later we came back to where our seats were. We were sitting there talking and I noticed a bus with a trailer hooked up to it. It was a bus with Zippo designs. I remembered that Zippo sponsors Bucky so of course that meant Bucky had arrived.
A little while later I got my meet and greet pass and was told the time and place. I only had one pass and wanted my daughter to use it but she was too scared to meet Bucky with out me so she refused to go. I went ahead to get in the line. While standing in line a guy told me he had a spare pass and to call my little girl and tell her to come up she could use it. So I got her up there and put her in line ahead of me.
The doors opened and every one was taken inside to start the meet greet. My daughter’s turn came up and she started towards Bucky and he said Hi sweety but then she was stopped for a second while one of the sponsors who went ahead f the fan club got their picture with Bucky. Then they told her just one more second while they took another picture. Finally they told her to go ahead. Bucky laughed and said Hey sweety starting to feel like we’re best friends. She laughed and handed him her gift. Bucky looked at it and told her was really nice and thanked her.

He sat it down and she got her picture with Bucky.
Then it was my turn. Bucky saw the shirt I had on and said I have to say I am loving those shirts.

I handed him the gift of a DVD I had created for him. He said So tell me what is on this? I said Well when I interviewed you awhile back I asked if you could duet with anyone who would it be? You mentioned Elvis as one. So this is you and Elvis doing a duet he smiled real big and said That is awesome I will definitely have to watch this. Then the picture was taken. ( major time for a diet now)
The concert was Amazing as always. Bucky sang American Friday Nights, I’m Good (got a little girl onstage with him during this one) I’ll Walk, The Bible and the Belt, Suspicious Minds (Elvis) Bucky and Rocky sang Seven Spanish Angels (Willie Nelson) Another Brick in the Wall ( Pink Floyd) Keep Your Hands to Yourself, during this song Bucky is playing the hell out of the guitar with another guitar player (don’t remember his name) and while he is doing that Rocky comes up and grabs the mic off the stand. Bucky comes back to where the mic is supposed to be and points at it. Rocky comes back with it starts singing the song. It was a very funny moment. You can just tell those two our loving doing this and being together. For those who may not know Rocky is Bucky’s twin and is the drummer. I know there is other songs I have left out but its 2:30 amd my mind is a little fuzzy.
I had an amazing time and will probably be attending a show again July 31st.
Here are some pics from show.Click to see them better

Office Furniture Taylor Hicks
Sometimes when I am bored I will type any word or phrase I can think of into search and put Taylor Hicks beside it just to see what comes up. Today I put office furniture Taylor Hicks. I found 3 things that I thought were funny.
1) Office Freaks || Office Supplies Make Me Hot!
Big Pimpin' with Office Furniture Made to Impress. Go Green at the Office ... desk calendar for American Idol's Taylor Hicks - he spends most of his time ...
www.officefreaks.com/page/16
When I clicked link this was written on the site
Loving the Step Perpetual Calendar from www.UncommonGoods.com. It would be the perfect desk calendar for American Idol’s Taylor Hicks - he spends most of his time all leaned over anyway. Amazing voice, though, and he’s from the same beautiful state that the greatest idol ever is from - Alabama/Bo Bice. Two of my favorites this year, Chris Daughtry and Bucky Covington, look to be following in Bo’s rockin’ steps. Wow. My thoughts just totally danced off in a different direction. We might be back now.
2) Palm Beach Post: Palm Beach & Treasure Coast news, sports ...
Well, TAYLOR HICKS had a landslide victory, and unprecedented victory, in ... Merchandise, Pets, Furniture, etc....
This one got me a little laugh, Taylor not only won American Idol he had a unprecedented victory, in ... Merchandise, Pets, Furniture, etc.
3) Yahoo! 360° - Cami J's Profile
I love Taylor Hicks! To me he is phenomenal! He is so different and I will be sure to vote for ... Cohen's Furniture store.
Another laugh, Taylor made her vote for Cohen's Furniture store.
I may just have to check out some more words to see what comes up.

Just Because I'm bored - Songs with Your Name- Hick Chicks?
Ok it is late and I'm bored so just for fun what songs have your name in them? My first choice with my name is a Elvis Presley song. If I had to choose one I'd like to hear Taylor sing it would be Cindy's Birthday. Further down find Hick songs
This one I was around 8 and I had a crush on a 16 year old boy my aunt who is a year older than me use to tease me about him. His name was Michael. She always played this real loud whenever he came to the house trying to embaress me. I had forgotten about this song until I was searching youtube for Cindy songs. Umm my oldest son's name is Michael wonder if it was my subconcious mind at work?
I also like Ricky Nelsons version of Cindy Cindy
Ok I searched for songs with taylor. No such luck found 3 though that have something to do with Hick or Hick Chicks
Just had to share this one

Taylor Hicks, Bucky Covington, Luke Bryan and Sammy Kershaw
I just do not see how I can swing the cost of going to New York and seeing Taylor Hicks as Teen Angel in Grease. I would love to be able to attend the show more than anything else but I do think it will happen. I will however be having a summer of great music anyway.
I am a huge country music fan ad thanks to fairs and festivals in my area I will be seeing at least three great acts. On July 5th I am attending a Bucky Covington concert, then on August 4th at the Lucasville County Fair we will enjoy a Luke Bryan Concert and August 5th at the same fair we are going to be enjoying music by Sammy Kershaw.
With all the great Grease press and fan pictures and video and the country concerts it is becoming a great summer of fun and music. There is going to be lots of walking at these fairs and festivals so good thing I just got a new pair of Merrell shoes.

Taylor Hicks Worth $150,000 a Week in Grease Sales
Taylor Hicks is worth $150,000 a week in sales for the Grease box office. This was reported by the New York Post. It is about time people other than the huge Soul Patrol is recognizing the talent of Taylor Hicks. The post says in part “but its real draw this summer is "American Idol" winner Taylor Hicks, who's playing Teen Angel.
An insider says Hicks is worth at least $150,000 in extra ticket sales a week.
(Make a note of that, Mr. Agent.)
Whenever Hicks whips out his harmonica, the audience goes nuts.
They're having such a blast that the "Grease" mega mix at the end of the show - this is where the critics ran screaming from the theater - now runs 10 minutes, with Hicks singing the title song and then playing it on his harmonica.
Meanwhile, the producers of the show are no longer flinching from the critical blows but are starting to have fun with them.
I just love reading this review. It put a smile of my face this morning to read such positive news.
Not really related to this at all but I was considering trying to go and see Grease, a friend told me to stay at a laughlin hotels but a little research online shows these hotels are in NV, so I do not know what my friend was thinking of. Guess I’ll have to call ask her.

Is it Time for American Idol All Stars?
I would love to see a season of American Idol All Stars. Bring back the best of the best. Of course if I had my way it would definetly have Taylor, Bucky, Bo, Kelly , Kellie and Carrie among some others. But I am sure that will not happen. But I wrote an article asking if it is time to have an All Stars season? Other reality shows have done this so why not American Idol. It may be hard with the hustle and bustle of the respective careers of the American Idol Alum but it could be done. We know Taylor must have built in generators as we have seen him perform when we thought he would be to exhausted or sick to do it, I have also watched Bucky Covington put on shows one right after another so it can be done.
Please click title above to read the piece and leave your thoughts.

American Idol Theme Party
I know it is early to talk about anything Halloween related but my daughter created a graphic and came up with an idea for a Halloween party and I wanted to share it with you. I told her last Halloween that she could have a Halloween party this year. She has been trying to decide what kind of party she would have.
A few days ago she decided she wants to have a American Idol Theme Party. But she is going to do it a little different. She is going to have the guests come as any person on any season of Idol or a judge however; they are to wear some kind of face mask. They should dress in the clothing the chosen Idol would wear and act like them but she wants it to be like the Idol coming to the party in a mask. Everyone will have to decide who each person is based on clothing and actions.
What I wanted to show you is what she is using for the front of the Halloween invitations

Is Taylor Hicks psychic
Is Taylor Hicks psychic? It seems like he may be. If you look back at his past CDS and things he has said and/or done it seems like at certain instances he was foretelling his future.
First you have Taylor’s first CD In Your Time with the songs Son of a Carpenter" "The Fall" "In Your Time" "Somehow" "On Broadway "Tighten Up" "Georgia" then there is Under the Radar which has the songs The Deal" "Hell of a Day" "Hold on to Your Love" "Heart and Soul "West Texas Sky" "Soul Thing" "My Friend".
When I heard on Broadway on Taylor’s first CD it seemed out of place to me. I just couldn’t imagine hat as a song Taylor Hicks would like but it’s on the CD and I love his version of it so I figured ok just something else about Taylor I didn’t understand. But now Taylor is On Broadway in Grease and that song defiantly seems appropriate now with Taylor.
Then you have the title of his second CD Under the Radar which he was until AI and he is definitely not under the radar anymore. There are many more things that make you think he may be able to tell the future. Yes I am kind of joking but if nothing else he seems to be able to make his own destiny happen quite well. Just yelling Soul Patrol helped in creating a fan base that feels very connected to Taylor.
On a different not my husband has been looking to buy a used Harleys. I have told him we can’t afford a harley he will have to settle for a cheaper bike. I also mentioned if he does get a bike we can drive it to NY so I can see Taylor in Grease as it wouldn’t be expensive to get to NY. Like he does often he just rolled his eyes at me. Men just don’t understand.

A Good Day
Today is a good day for me. I have bee trying for a couple years to loose some weight. I tried diet pills, slim fast, exercise and everything I could think of. Nothing worked. If anything it seemed I gained weight.
With the high price of gas and groceries I decided I was going to plant a garden. My husband works too much to have time to help with it, so I knew this project was going to be on my own. I tilled the ground, raked, hoed and tilled it again. I planted the plants and seed. I then decided I wanted to plant more vegetables but I didn’t have enough room in the spot. I started over again in another are. Tilled, ranked, hoed and planted. Then once a week I till between the rows and plants to keep the weeds out and hoe where the tiller will not fit.
It has been a lot of work but it has also been fun watching my hard work grow. I have started noticing my clothes are bigger on me then they were before so today I stepped on the scales and I have lost 20 lbs. 20 more and I will be down to my ideal weight.
Yes I am thrilled. I was not even trying to loose weight I was just looking for a way to save some money and have great tasting fresh food. Maybe I’ll use my yard for a garden to keep in shape LOL

Taylor Hicks Broadway
Taylor Hicks, as most fans know has been performing on Broadway since June 6th in Grease as Teen Angel. I will not be able to go to NY to see this performance so I felt really let down that I would not be able to see Taylor be the Teen Angel.
I should have know the SP always finds away to share videos, pictures and audio with the rest of the SP any time they see Taylor.
I have been watching the videos and looking at the pictures and reading the recaps that make me feel like I was right there in the theater. You can feel the joy, fun and excitement that each person sharing the recap felt. Taylor gives everyone who sees and hears him such joy. There is just something about Taylor Hicks that can put a smile on your face no matter what may be going in your life. Even if you are not able to go and see Taylor you can get that same feeling by reading the recaps of those fortunate enough to see and experience the soul man. I have watched the Beauty School Dropout and Curtain Call videos several times since they were posted for us to all share in Taylor’s amazing performance and I am so thankful to those who let us into Broadway with them.
Yesterday a game my daughter wanted for her playstation 3 came. It is an American Idol game. She loves it but she said she thought it would have something of Taylor in it. LOL yea even my daughter expects Taylor in everything.
Below enjoy the Taylor videos of Taylor in Grease.

Taylor is the Word- Grease is the Show

Taylor Hicks debut on Broadway as Teen Angel in Grease was Friday June 6th. I will not be able to make it to NY to see Taylor even though I would love to go very much and take my 13 year old daughter to see the sights and sounds of New York as well as see the best show in town, there is just no way I can afford this trip.
I want to see Taylor in this role very much as Grease is one of my favorite musicals, Footloose is my next favorite. So anyway I knew there was no way I would be able to see Taylor but thanks to the generosity of Taylor Hicks fans the video, audio and pictures are flowing all over for all of us who will not be lucky to get to NY to still experience our Soul Man making his mark on Broadway. Thankfully I can use copy and paste or Ctrl and D to share and bookmark all the great things to see and hear online. I would have gone through quite a lot of ink pens by now if I had to write this all down. Go here, here and here to see some great stuff from Taylor’s Broadway appearance. I know there will be lots more to keep track of as Taylor will be Teen Angel until September. Also go here to read what the lady playing Rizzo as to say about Taylor.
