A new chat/interview with Taylor Hicks from 92 PRO-FM radio in Providence R.I was found today. In the video Taylor drops some news about his new CD. The albums title is “The Distance”. Taylor also states that the album has some country, blues and gospel.
I am so ready for this album to come out. February seems so far away. But with all the great Grease press, interviews and album hints it is proving to be an exciting time to wait for the CD to drop.
I looked up the definition for the word “distance” while there were several given there is one I like best when relating it to Taylor’s CD.
(Distance Definition)
The extent of time between two events; an intervening period.
The extent of time could be related to a few things, 10 years pre-idol, the 2 1/2 years since Idol, or simply what Taylor has been saying for a long time. He is in this for the long haul. He doesn’t see it as a sprint but as a marathon.
I know Taylor Hicks will be around for “The Distance”. Taylor’s fans are behind him all the way and we will support him in all he does. Each move he makes will be a move that will take him further down the road. He has wanted to share his voice for so long and Taylor, his voice, his talent in all he goes after, and the fan support will keep propelling him down the music highway for a long time to come.
On Taylor’s MySpace page a few new pictures have been added. One is a picture of a song title and some lyrics. The lyrics are very intriguing and I can not wait to hear the song.
Below is the video of Taylor saying the title of his new CD and much more.

Twas the night of the Grease Tour Debut,
Something I did just for fun. Names chosen are simply names of people who have posted here.
Twas the night of the Grease Tour Debut, when all through the online world
Everyone was waiting patiently for news that would soon unfurl
Knowing others would soon be giving updates to share,
It’s starting again, the Soul Patrol traveling affair.
The fans were refreshing anxiously, the new threads,
While visions of horns and drums danced in their heads;
And Taylor with his harp, and fans waiting for a recap,
I had just settled down to wait for those caps,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a shiny head of gray, music so great, I could hear,
With a harp playing, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be Tay Hicks.
More rapid than eagles his fans they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
"Now, Jersey! now, Annie! now, Cochem and all Vixens!
Come, Angels! Come Henry! Come, Chill and PoetCindy!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dance away! dance away! dance away all!"
So in to the house the fans they flew,
With the house full of musical toys, and Taylor Hicks too.
And then, in a minute, I heard the proof
That this was all real, it wasn’t a dream, it wasn’t a spoof.
As I caught my breath, and was turning around,
Right up to us danced Taylor Hicks, he came with a bound.
He was dressed all in black and gray, from his head to his foot,
The space between us was less than a cubic foot;
A bundle of signed items he had flung on his back,
And they were signed to us all, the items in his pack.
His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his mood was all happy and airy!
His sexy little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the hair on his head was as white as the snow;
And I sighed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know, I had to start a new thread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And he sang and played the harp; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his head to the side, he smiled and for a second froze
And giving a woo, we are always satisfied, he knows.
He sprang to his car, to his band gave a whistle,
And away they all drove like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight,
"Soul Patrol to all, and to all a good night."

Taylor Hicks and Grease Reports From Opening Night
Last Night was the debut of the National tour of the Broadway hit Grease, starring Taylor Hicks as Teen Angel. Many were gathered at the Boogie Board waiting for play by play recaps. Excitement was in the air as we all sat at our pc’s waiting for news of the happenings of the night. Taylor and those in attendance had a outstanding opening night by all reports given.
Reports of the nights show include
The Providence Performing Arts theater in Providence, RI
is GORGEOUS.
Taylor will "probably" be using the "Grease" band for his shadow tour around the country.
The show seems better than New York. More Energetic, More fun! Huge applause after every single number.
Brian Gallagher (SAX) did some "work" with Taylor on his new CD.
Taylor will MORE THAN LIKELY be doing Buddy Guys in Chicago in January
John McDaniel Music director from the Rosie show was in attendance
Taylor got a FANTASTIC Response. The Ice Cream Cone is beautiful.
Frenchy & Taylor get along well in the show.
When Frenchy rubs his chest, instead of saying "I love you" she said "I voted for you."
Taylor looked HAPPY, TAN, RELAXED, & THIN!
He was wearing jeans, a beautiful sweater, & boots.
He is so happy about his new music. Complete control over the music, which is what he has wanted all along!
There was Harp during the Encore!
Encore - Grease is the word - his harp playing was much longer and they circled him - highlighted that. They also did Greased Lightnin' Encore.
The place was packed - and Taylor was without question - the STAR. He got the most applause.

National Tour Of Grease Starts Now - Starring Taylor Hicks
I posted a piece about Taylor and encouraging people to go see him in Grease on my Live Mic Blog. I wanted to share it here also.
If you have not seen Taylor Hicks live and in person than you have not seen the real Taylor Hicks. Taylor loves performing in front of the audience he feeds off the energy supplied by the audience and they thrive off of him. It is win-win.
Taylor is not doing a concert tour at the moment however the national tour of the fifties-themed musical Grease, which Taylor Hicks starred in as “Teen Angel” this past summer in the Broadway production at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, launches today at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, RI.
I have yet to see Taylor in the Teen Angel role, however those who saw Grease this past summer give Taylor as Teen Angel and the entire show a complete thumbs up. Taylor Hicks has took the role of Teen Angel and made it his own. The tour will stop near me Dec.16th- the 21st and I can’t wait to see it. Below are a few videos to get you in the mood and the tours scheduled stops thus far.

Taylor Hicks - New Interview says wrote with Gary Nicholson
A new interview with Taylor Hicks came out today and be read here. In the interview she asked
Did you collaborate with any writers on this album?
Taylors answer was
Yeah, I did actually. There were some writers in Nashville that I wrote with. And there were a lot of different styles of writers - one of the writers is Gary Nicholson in Nashville. Also a couple writers that are friends of mine, Wynne Christian and Alan Little. There are a lot of different people that have come together. I've been able to have the time to be able to really focus on what I feel a great song is.
So I researched Gary and found out that he has written or co-written several songs for many singers. So I went to you tube on the search of some of the songs that I could find. Videos of some songs are below. If you know of othes please leave the link here.
Can't Stop Now Reba Mcentire
(Gary Nicholson, Wendy Waldman
The Trouble with the Truth', which was a hit for Patty Loveless
Conway Twitty Hard Act to follow
One Good Love (Neil Diamond/Gary Nicholson)
Wynonna's Judd "Somebody to Love You";
Vince Gill's "One More Last Chance";
Montgomery Gentry's "She Couldn't Change Me";
Skin Deep Tom co-wrote with Buddy Guy and Gary Nicholson)
More Love Dixie Chicks . Music and lyrics by Gary Nicholson, Tim O'Brien
Tomorrow is the kick off for the National Tour of Grease. I can not wait for the great recaps and hopefully some audio/video
